Panorama Hills real estate construction began in 1997 and is now the largest neighbourhood in the Northern Hills with approximately 17,000 residents. Panorama, like all of the Northern Hills has some great amenities which I will get to later, but it also has a couple of things that sets it apart from the rest of the Northern Hills. I would venture to guess that a majority of the residents do not even know that there is the John A. Lewis Rock Quarry within our borders as well as the Reverend George Macdougall Commemorative Cairn memorial site. Quick history tidbit: George MacDougall was a missionary in Alberta back in the 1800s. He helped not only the Native peoples in the area but as well as the Europeans that were coming to this part of the country at that time. It is believed that he died of a heart attack while out on a buffalo hunt to help feed the people of the Morleyville Mission.

Part of the major attraction for those buying Panorama Hills real estate is its general location; it is only 2 kilometres from the largest park in Calgary, Nose Hill Park. It is close to downtown with a direct bus route to get you there within 30 minutes. Shopping again is abundant with Canadian Tire, Home Depot within the community and Costco in Beacon Heights now only 11 minutes away via Stoney Trail.

Panorama Hills is the first e-Community in Calgary; the homes have been designed with the latest in home wiring. This will allow home owners to program their "smart" devices through the eBox to include multiple rooms within the home and to use GenStar's neighborNet, which was designed to connect residents with each other.

Last but certainly not least, those choosing Panorama Hills real estate to ensure their children attend modern schools have it right. The CBE has been very progressive with the schooling in Panorama Hills and as a result there is an Elementary School that has been up and running since 2009. There is also a Middle school currently under construction with its slotted open date for the 2012 school year and there is also a High School that is on the books with its opening for sometime in 2015. The CSSD also has an elementary school as well on Panamount Boulevard and Notre Dame High School which is located right next door to Cardel Place.
